Once in Santo Domingo, began the great adventure of creating your own liquor company. Barcelo & Co. was founded in 1930. Like all beginnings, these were hard. Julian went with his old Ford van promoting their quality rums to all corners of the country, but over time, their effort was rewarded to see Barceló & Co turned into a national power industry.

At his death, his nephew Miguel Barceló, directed the course of the company, continuing to grow, until it became a mainstay of the Dominican economy.
