Oydor, a tribute to the first Count of San Cristóbal. In the elaboration of this new reference, grapes from 2 small vineyards of the so-called Paraje Peñaramiel are the protagonists: One planted in the 50's and the other, without grafting, from the pre-phylloxera period dating from 1861.

An exceptional raw material, optimal weather conditions and the height of the vineyards among lush forests, have favored the development of the vine and result in an elegant and powerful red wine, which has at the same time, with a characteristic freshness of the area and length in the bottle. OYDOR 2018 was awarded 96 points by international wine critic Tim Atkin.

This new reference becomes the top of the range wine of Bodega Conde de San Cristóbal, with a very limited production of 900 bottles in years of excellent harvest.

Fermentation takes place in wooden vats for 9 - 12 days. After fermentation, the wine is left to macerate with the pulp for a further 25 days. This is followed by malolactic fermentation in barrels.

Aging: 18 to 20 months in French oak barrels (new and single-use).

Count de San Cristóbal:

Don Pelayo de la Mata, IX Count of San Cristobal, together with the team formed by Jorge Peique and prestigious external advisors, spent years searching for plots of old goblet-grown vines within the Ribera del Duero, to make a great wine in homage to his ancestor, the first Count of the saga, who was OYDOR at the Royal Chancery of Valladolid and knight of Charles III.

In the search for such vineyards, they followed in the footsteps of the Benedictine Order whose monks, wine experts, are at the origin of several of the great wine regions of the world (Champagne, Burgundy, Bordeaux...). This made it possible to locate old vineyards in the area of Quintana del Pidio, whose origins date back to the vineyards planted in the 11th century by the Benedictine Order of the Abbey of Santo Domingo de Silos (Burgos), who, according to the archives of the time, had 85,000 vines on this land.

These vineyards are located in the highest and coldest part of the DO Ribera del Duero; vineyards always surrounded by lush forests, which gives its wines a great personality, minerality, freshness and liveliness.
