The Denomination of Origin Jumilla is located in the province of Murcia and Albacete, it was established in 1961, it brings together 250 wineries with about 2,800 winegrowers, it has an approximate area of 28,000 hectares of vineyards, the soils have a high level of lime and are poor in organic matter but have a great water retention capacity and medium permeability. The climate is continental but has a great influence on the eastern area by the Mediterranean and the area of the La Mancha plateau on the western side.
The preferred and authorized white varieties in this D.O. They are Airén, Chardonnay, Malvasía, Moscatel GM, P. Ximenez, Sauvignon and Macabeo.

Monastrell also becomes important in the production of very peculiar rosés due to the color potential that this variety provides.
