Estremadura It is a denomination of protected origin, used to designate Earth wines prepared with grapes produced in the viticultural areas of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura in Spain, and that meet certain requirements. The geographical indication of this area was regulated in 1999, and is composed of more than 67 entertaining bottling industries. Its vineyard area is about 7,300 hectares, with a total production of about 470,000 hestroples.

Extremaduran, white, pink, red and even cavas broths occur mainly in Badajoz, as the province with the highest concentration of vineyards. Estremadura As a whole, it is one of the first wine producing regions in Spain.

Preferred and authorized varieties to cultivate

Extremadura red wines occur mostly with grapes from Tempranillo, Merlot, Garnacha Tintorera, Garnacha Ink, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah varieties. For whites, however, varieties are preferred Cayetana, Pardina, Macabeo, Alarije, Eva or Baba, Montúa and Pedro Ximénez, although varieties are also often used in less quantity Chardonnay, Cigünte, Malvar and Sauvignon Blanc. Extremadura is one of the seven Spanish regions with full legal capacity to devote themselves to the production of the type of foamy wine.
