He Valteiro Red Wine 2015 of Bodega Valdesil, This presents this D.o Valdeorras red wine (Spain) elaborated from the variety of merenzao grape.
The Maria Ardoña (also called Merenzao) is the Galician native variety of little culture with which Bodegas Valdesil elaborated Valteiro 2015, its most unique red wine. Elegance and minerality, after a long raising in oak, stainless steel and bottle.
Crop
These are vineyards distributed in 'Pezas' or plots with up to 45% of northern slope cultivated in glass to an altitude between 600 and 800 meters above sea level, in the Valdeorras Carballeda City Council.
The strains have an age that hinders between 60 and 105 years. They are characterized by having a colluvial soil, derived from the weathering of the black slate rock.
As for the weather, it is a humid Mediterranean with a continental tendency, in which temperatures and rainfall are staggering.
The preservation of Galician native varieties, some almost missing, is one of the identity signs of Bodegas Valdesil, key signature of the thriving D.O. Valdeorras. Valteiro 2015 faithfully embodies that bet.
The vineyards of María Ardoña that originated Valteiro 2015 were planted in 1985 by Francisco Prada Gayoso, founder and owner of Bodegas Valdesil. The purpose of its cultivation was none other than to achieve a red -shaft red that perfectly combines the elegance of the variety with the special minerality of the slopes of Portela, the small village from which it comes. That is precisely the essence of this wine that the club brings you.
Elaboration
An exceptional show of typicity and terroir, after a thorough elaboration, which included 30 months of aging, 6 in 500 -liter French oak barrels; 18 months in deposit and the last 6 months in bottle for its definitive refinement.
If we refer to the recommended consumption temperature, it is 16 ºC. In this way, it also needs a few minutes of aeration to offer its full potential.

Lo que mejor define a Bodegas Valdesil es su viñedo centenario, que unido a una larga tradición familiar vitivinícola, han conseguido que los vinos de Bodegas Valdesil sean el fiel reflejo de su origen, pasión por la tierra y el trabajo en bodega. La filosofía de la bodega Valdesil siempre ha sido obtener la mayor tipicidad de las uvas autóctonas de Valldeorras.
Bodegas Valldesil tiene como buque insignia a su vino blanco Valdesil Godello sobre Lías elaborado en Valdeorras con el río Sil como exponente, aprovechando la riqueza geológica y el clima de la zona, pero el vino blanco Pedrouzos, elaborado con el que es considerado el viñedo de uva godello mas viejo de España, plantado en 1885, es una maravilla difícil de conseguir por su escasa producción pero en Vinopremier hemos tenido la oportunidad de catarlo y creemos que es uno de los mejores vinos godello de España.
Los vinos de Bodegas Valdesil son vinos fruto de una tradición familiar que rompió moldes y que han heredado para seguir elaborando vinos expresivos y únicos dentro de la D.O. Valdeorras...sus grandes blancos gallegos dejan recuerdo en cualquier catador que tiene el placer de probarlos.
