The Denomination of Origin Jumilla is located in the province of Murcia and Albacete, it was established in 1961, it brings together 250 wineries with about 2,800 winegrowers, it has an approximate area of ​​28,000 hectares of vineyards, the soils have a high level of lime and are poor in organic matter but have a great water retention capacity and medium permeability. The climate is continental but has a great influence on the eastern area by the Mediterranean and the area of ​​​​the La Mancha plateau on the western side.

The preferred and authorized white varieties in this D.O. They are Airén, Chardonnay, Malvasía, Moscatel GM, P. Ximenez, Sauvignon and Macabeo.

The preferred and authorized red varieties in this D.O are Monastrell, Garnacha, Tempranillo, Garnacha Tintorera, Cab. Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Syrah

The wines of this D.O. They are internationally known due to the fundamental role that Monastrell plays in this area, with more than 80% of the vineyards cultivated with this variety, red wines with strong color can be obtained, loaded with structure, fruit, warmth and with the base of the terroir of Jumilla. Monastrell also becomes important in the production of very peculiar rosés due to the color potential that this variety provides.

The minimum percentages of alcoholic volume acquired in their wines are the following: White 11%, Rosé 11.5%, Red 12%, Monastrell 12.5%, Liqueur 15%, Sweet 12.5%. p>
