Buy D.O. Wines Lanzarote

The Denomination of Origin Lanzarote is based in the province of Lanzarote and was established in 1994, with about 1,900 hectares of vineyards and about 18 wineries that make up 1,760 winegrowers. The position of the island of Lanzarote in the subtropical pressure belt, the influence of the Atlantic Ocean with its thermoregulatory effect and the proximity to the African Continent, condition the existence of a dry subtropical climate. The soils are well differentiated and even deep red soils on ancient basaltic formations. These soils appear as fossil soils having been covered by more recent volcanic eruptions or by colluvial deposits, they have reddish colors and loam-silt-clayey textures.

The preferred and authorized white varieties in this D.O. Malvasía, Breval, Burrablanca, Listán Blanco, Moscatel, P.Ximenez and Vijariego diego.

The preferred and authorized red varieties in this D.O are Listán negro and Negramoll.

The wines of this D.O. The vines, whose average age is between 30 and 50 years, are harrow-pruned and harvested in the traditional way and without mechanization, reserving the healthy grapes for the production of protected wines. The white Malvasia grape is the predominant variety in the vineyards of Lanzarote. It is a small grape, very delicate and of low yield, but its selection is due to the fact that it is perfectly adapted to the environment and stands out for the balance, intense flavor and perfume that it then transfers to the wines. The red wines are only made with the native varieties Listan Negro and Negramoll, leaving the cut of their wines very differentiated.

The minimum percentages of alcoholic volume acquired in their wines are the following: White 9%, Rosé 9%, Red 9%, Wines from overripe grapes 13%, Sparkling 11%, Liqueur Wine 15%, Sparkling Wine 10%, Quality sparkling wine 10%.
