White Wine Longridge Chardonnay
The White Wine Longridge Chardonnay is a 100% varietal Chardonnay. It is a wine made according to biodynamic practices. LONGRIDGE belongs to the winery WINE STATE, which is located on the slopes and Helderberg Mountains, Stellenbosch, South Africa. The cultivated area is 30 hectares with west orientation. Made with minimal intervention both in the vineyards and in the winery. Fermentation is produced by natural yeast (no yeast or commercial enzymes are used).
The maritime climate contributes to the ripening of the grapes, with cool breezes coming from False Bay (Indian Ocean) in the afternoons and cold currents flowing down the slopes of the Helderberg Mountains at night. This unique situation puts the winery a few degrees below the rest of the Stellenbosch region, average annual rainfall: 800 mm.
The terroir essentially decomposed granite (Hutton and Tukulu) on a layer of clay rich in iron.
